About
I studied design at Camberwell School of Art in London and, while producing my own work, taught Fine Art and Fashion in College. My own style then was hyper real and I worked on commissions painting people’s treasured possessions:heirloom china; wedding shoes; jewellery and dogs. Mallorca is so different to London. The light, colours, textures and forms in the landscapes and cityscapes are deeply inspiring and have changed the way I work completely. I begin my pieces by layering images I have taken in Palma, Soller and Fornalutx, looking for interesting juxtapositions and tensions between elements. I may generate thirty or forty abstract layouts before finalising my ideas. Arches always feature, a symbol of culture, history, strength and support, and my love of architecture. My compositions are highly ordered exerting precision and control to contrast with the general chaos of existence. My colours reflect the soft pink render on the houses, mellow pistachio and grey greens of the olive trees, bright oranges that adorn the hills where I live and emerald greens and cerulean blues of the sea. I use perspective and depth to draw the viewer into the work and reflect the feeling of exploration and discovery I have found since living in Mallorca.
The highlight of 2024 was winning the Artists of Mallorca Elección Popular. Thank you Artists of Mallorca, TV IB3, Setmanarisoller and everyone that voted.
